In an interview with, Levine thanked the former Friday Night Lights star for agreeing to appear in the video. 'Minka was kind enough to make an appearance,' he said.
'That was pretty sweet.' Kelly was asked to take on the role of Levine's wife by Peter Berg, who helmed the music video. Berg previously worked with Kelly on the NBC series.
'She plays my wife who leaves me,' Levine continued. 'The story behind her involvement was Pete reaching out to her and saying, 'Hey, do you want to do this?' And her saying 'Yes', and us saying, 'Thank you!' 'Thank you, Minka Kelly, for doing our video!'

My InterpretationThe MV has nothing to do with the lyrics, except maybe that Adam still likes the girl even after she left him alone when she realized that he's not turning his back on his business. 'But baby there you go again, there you go again, making me love you. And I stopped using my head, using my head, let it all go. Got you stuck on my body, on my body like a tattoo. And now I'm feeling stupid, feeling stupid running back to you.' But that doesn't help a lot too.
Generally the song is about that feeling when you know you should go away but you've become too involved to do it now. That feeling when you know you should stop but you have just fallen for it and it's not very easy to alter things.
But suddenly, the other person got things done in your behalf unannounced. Looking closely into the lyrics, I think it's some sort of prostitute-client affair, just taken a little too much. You and I go hard at each other like we're going to war - sex/infidelity maybe? You and I go rough, we keep throwing things and slamming the door - fight You and I get so damn dysfunctional, we start keeping score - 'cold war' lol You and I get sick, yeah I know that we can't do this no more - come to terms. This one is self-explanatory if taken from the above lyrics - They have sex and then they feel involved and then they think they can hold a grip on things and then they disagree and then they fight and they they take pride and then they agree to be apart, but then he knows it's not what he wants: 'Try to tell you no but my body keeps on telling you yes Try to tell you stop but your lipstick got me so out of breath I'll be waking up in the morning probably hating myself And I'll be waking up feeling satisfied but guilty as hell' But finally, it is over for her. 'But I'll only stay with you one more night.' Anyway, it may also be a boyfriend-girlfriend or husband-wife thing, but the way I see it it's rather sensual and sexual so I'm leaning more on prosti-client kind of affair.
Well, I love it; it's very catchy. And hey, it's Maroon 5 so yeah! I love their music. They say what they say and they don't give a damn about what people have to say.
They're sure of themselves. General CommentThis song is about narcissistic abuse. This is about the non abuser trying to get away but keeps getting sucked back into the abuse by the abuser. Narcissistic relationships are exactly how this is described with the fighting and the making up. Narcissists love drama and they love the negative because it gives them power. This song demonstrates how a person knows they need to leave and tries but then that other person lays on the charm and reals them back in only to harm them again and again. Vicious cycle of charm to harm.
'Baby there you go again making me love you'.the charm is back on and the victim, 'not using my head I let it all go' letting your guard down and allowing the fake charm and love back in. The 'feeling stupid and crawling back to you', because this vicious cycle continues on and on with the narcissist. They are incapable of really loving or feeling and the abused one knows this deep down but they go back any way because they so want to believe that they are loved by their narcissist the same way they love them. Ultimately, they want so badly to have a loving nurturing relationship with the fake persona that the narcissiat puts on, but the fake persona never lasts behind closed doors and they are back and at their 'bully' state again. The narcissist generally appears like the perfect husband or wife to everyone not closely related. And they don't allow co-workers and neighbors to see the bad side in most cases. They lie and blame everything on the one they are abusing.
Even making the abused feel responsible for their affairs and everything. They down play their faults and over exaggerate their achievements. While they do the opposite for your faults and achievemnts. They have to be 'king of the mountain' at all cost and they truly don't care about anyone else. They are incapable. My InterpretationMaroon 5 has his girlfriend and baby daughter living with him.
To support his family, he goes and does his boxing job most of the time instead of staying home and spending time with his family. His girlfriend thinks he is taking too much time for boxing instead of helping her around the house and raising their daughter. One day when Maroon 5 goes boxing again, his girlfriend packs her things and takes her daughter and herself to a new home. Maroon 5 comes home to see the house half empty with his girlfriend's and daughter's things gone.
General CommentThis Reggae tinged tune was released as the second single by Maroon 5, from their fourth studio album, Overexposed. Despite its sunny production, lyrically the track is quite dark with Levine crooning lyrics about being guilt-ridden about his part in a dysfunctional relationship, but still wanting to spend 'one more night' together. The song was premiered by the band on May 18, 2012, at the Revel Casino and Hotel in Atlantic City, USA and was released on June 19, 2012. Levine penned the song with Texas songwriter Savan Kotecha (One Direction's 'What Makes You Beautiful') and it was produced by the Swedish hitmaking duo of Shellback and Max Martin. Shellback also contributed to Maroon 5's previous two singles 'Moves Like Jagger' and 'Payphone,' whilst Martin oversaw the Overexposed album project.
It was Gwen Stefani's debut solo album Love. That persuaded Levine to get some outside help on the album. He told UK newspaper The Sun: 'She's amazing and had that fearless approach to recording with all of the best people in the business. And her record was incredible, because she had the courage to step outside her comfort zone. So we said, 'Why not try something completely different that could totally radicalise the idea of who we are?' And I think Max Martin is an absolute genius. I took him aside and asked him if he would be executive producer.
There aren't many guys out there who can write amazing music but also who people respect enough to allow to be at the helm of the operation.' The song's music video was directed by Peter Berg who is responsible for such films as The song was Maroon 5's third #1 on the Hot 100 following 'Makes Me Wonder' in 2007 and 'Moves Like Jagger' in 2011. An entirely different 'One More Night' previously reached the Hot 100 summit.
A Phil Collins composition of the same name spent two weeks at #1 in 1985.
